WEDNESDAY 27TH APRIL 2005  INTERNET HOME SALE MATURING ACROSS UK The internet is increasingly becoming an established medium for new home sales, with many companies quoting more than one in five sales being initiated online. George Wimpey tops the polls with some regions scoring a 100% response to internet enquiries. Statistics from SmartNewHomes.com, the newly built homes website, reveal that there has been a massive increase in positive customer feedback over recent years, with increasingly high service levels from house builders to online enquiries. Three years ago the industry average for the proportion of internet queries that received a response within 21 days was just 25%. It is now 66%, with several companies achieving even higher percentages than this. George Wimpey has a company-wide average of over 80% response rate to internet enquiries with several regions, notably the North West and Manchester, scoring 100%. The East Anglian team also scored highly with a response rate of 91%. David Bexon, chief executive of SmartNewHomes.com, comments: "The changing attitude we have seen amongst house builders towards the internet over recent years has been astounding." "Every single developer now respects this medium as a major tool in its marketing and sales strategy and this has been reflected with the improving levels of customer service and increasing number of sales originating from internet leads."
